Radical Nevada Cup and Trackdays – Roll-Out at Guadix and Round 1 at Ascari Race Resort
- 21 December 2007

Radical Nevada Cup and Trackdays
At the first 2 weekends of the Radical Nevada Cup, the first European winter series exclusively for Radical Sportscars, a total of 30 Radicals gathered at both weekends. Sunshine, 20°C, 15 hours of track time, 2 × 50 minutes racing, testing, Radical taxi rides, excellent facilities, food and wine and lots of Radical-talk was there to be enjoyed by drivers and teams who joined in from the UK, Angola, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Portugal and Spain.

December 1 and 2 at Guadix was a pure roll-out and track day event fully enjoyed by all participants. An excellent track gave beginners a chance to hone their driving skills and more advanced drivers to prepare for Round 2 of the Radical Nevada Cup which will also be held at Guadix on January 26/27. The participants enjoyed delightful entertainment and great restaurants in the grand city of Granada, home to the spectacular Alhambra.

“FUN IN THE SUN!” – that really sums it up.
It got a lot more serious at the beautiful and club-like Ascari Race Resort, located near the ancient historic town of Ronda on December 8 and 9. A superbly appointed track with 26 corners on almost 6 km gave beginners and advanced drivers an outstanding opportunity to thoroughly enjoy their Radical. With the full range of Radical Sportscars from the new PR6 to the SR3, SR5 and SR8 in situ, teams and guests had the opportunity to watch and test any model they were interested in.

Both races were fast paced and a lot of fun, with leading positions changing constantly (at least after the Aranjo SR8 had to come in for technical reasons) among Patterson/Morrison in their PR6 1500cc, Neliubsys in the Works SR5 and Ruff in his SR3 1500cc. In Race 1, Ruff’s SR3 beat the SR5 for overall glory, with the fortunes turned in Race 2 with Neliubsys in the SR5 as the overall winner. Ascari also saw some great performances by Patterson/Morrison in their PR6 who put in the fastest qualifying time of the weekend (2.10.591). Strong performances were also offered by Luc Switten, Dirk Finstel, René Eder/Christian Droop and Erik Janssens in their SR3 1300cc, with Erik Janssens being the top contender with #2 and # 1 finishes in the two races.

The next 2 rounds will be held again at Guadix near Granada on January 26/27 (with an additional test day on January 25) and at the new Monteblanco circuit near Sevilla. Both weekends will feature qualifying and free practice sessions (3×30 minutes), two races of 50 minutes each, and track day sessions of 12 hours per weekend, on site parts supplies and storage for cars and trailers between the two weekends not to mention the beauties of a Spanish night in Granada and Sevilla. Be sure not to miss those excellent opportunities to enjoy your Radical, race on an European level and prepare for the rapidly approaching new racing season. There are ample opportunities to have your Radical transported to those events.
