Radical Sportscars will show their new SR5 and SR8 for the first time on the Dunlop “Great & British” Motorsport Festivals stand at Autosport International in January.

Both the new SR5 and the SR8 incorporate many new features developed on the company’s SR9 Le Mans prototype. A new crash box complies with the latest FIA safety regulations, while the aero package has undergone major revisions which include a new high nose, re-profiled front and rear diffusers, all new sidepods, a new cooling system and a re-profiled rear wing.

The Radical SR5 is fitted with the latest, more powerful, K20A Powertec Honda engine, a Hewland transaxle and a Powertec semi-automatic flat shift and auto blipper system.

The SR8 boasts a new eight-throttle body induction system for the Powertec RPA 2.6 litre V8 which releases a further 20bhp, giving 380bhp in total.  A new 455bhp 2.8 litre version of the Powertec V8 is also available for racing at non-Radical organised events.  All SR8’s are now available with the Powertec Ptec transaxle with semi-automatic flat shift and auto blipper gear shift system.

Radical co-founder, Mick Hyde elaborates, “Naturally we continue to develop our flagship cars, reducing lap times and improving driveability year on year.  With these new cars we are also taking major steps forward in driver safety.  We will put the chassis through the same rigorous tests that our SR9 LMP2 car had to endure.  We have also introduced a head restraint system and a Radical HANS device.  You can’t have too much safety!”

As with all the models in Radical’s range, the new SR5 and SR8 will be eligible for the “Radical British Cup” which runs in the Dunlop “Great & British” Motorsport Festival package and the “Radical European Masters” which will support the Le Mans Series in 2008.
