Radical Racers Seize Last Pre-Season Test Chance

Intermittent rain didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of drivers at Radical’s second official pre-season test, held at Brands Hatch, Kent yesterday. It was the last chance for racers to test with other Radical owners, ahead of the UK Cup and Clubman’s Cup season opener at Rockingham next month.

With 29 racers on-track during the 55-minute test sessions, everything from a brand-new SR8 LM to an original 1100 Clubsport were on-track, all benefitting from Radical’s on-site technical support and spares backup.

Amongst those testing were Radical rookies David Thorburn, Richard Carver and Mark White in a brace of SR3 RS’, and John Lord and Lawrence Wilkins, sharing an SR8 in this year’s UK Cup. 2009 Castle Combe GT Champion and occasional Clubman’s Cup competitor was also in attendance, testing his distinctive tangerine SR3 RS.

The Radical Owner’s Club also paired up with Radical, and 15 of the club’s members fielded cars during the non-timed trackday sessions.

“With only a few weeks until the season really starts, the competition’s really hotting up, with our rookie drivers rapidly closing on the pace of the championship’s leading drivers,” said Amanda Abbott, Championship Co-ordinator. “It’s proof of how accessible and easy to drive a Radical is, and the reason why we have packed grids in both the Quaife Radical Clubman’s Cup, and Competition Car Insurance Radical UK Cup this year.”
